SAKKARIN HIGHMOUNTAIN Kurakake Mountain

The only thig that can be relied on
is the snow on Kurakake Mountain.
fields and woods
thawing,freezing,and thawing,
totally untrustworthy.
it's true,a great fuzzy windstorm
like yeast up there today,still
the only faint source of hope
is the snow on Kurakake Mountain.

もはやクラカケマウンテンの雪しか頼りにはならない
野原や森の
あたりの雪は溶けてたり、凍ったりしてしまい
まったくあてにはならない
今日は、まるでーイーストのような吹雪が
山々を覆ってはいるが、それでも
ただひとつ、かすかな希望の種は
クラカケマウンテンの雪だけなのだ

Commentary


ゲイリイスナイダーはケルワックなどと同じのビート派詩人とかかわりのある有力な詩人です。1956年頃から日本に訪れるようになり、その国の京都で禅をまなびました。帰国後はネヴァダの山奥で原始的な生活をおくりながら、大学で教鞭をとっています。1968年の大ヒットアルバム「The Back Country」の"MIYAZAWA KENJI"よりの大ヒットナンバーです。

Gary Snyder is an influential poet with the relations with the beat side poet that is the same as Kerouac . He came to visit Japan from about 1956, and learned Zen in Kyoto of that country. after the return ,He Teach at the university with leading primitive life in the depths of a mountain of nevada. It is a big hit number than "MIYAZAWA KENJI" of the big hit album "The Back Country" in 1968.
